Here in Massachusetts, we have something wonderful.
Candidates.

Candidates for governor who can speak.

The gubernatorial debates are actually entertaining. And the reason why? Christy Mihos. He's basically out there shooting one-liners. In response to Kerry Healy's anti-Deval Patrick ad, which ended, "Do you really want one for your governor?" he says, "Woah. And I thought MY ad was offensive."

He's bright, articulate, has virtually no chance of winning, but is totally shaping the debate. He's not going to win, but whoever DOES win is going to have to take Mihos's ideas into account.

Oh my goodness, his ad is absolutely hysterical. See also, Kerry Healy's ads are so obnoxious that I would discourage anyone from voting for her (esp. the one where a bunch of politicos (who don't actually endorse her campaign) compliment her assistance in passing a bill).

I've been pretty impressed with Christy Mihos's presentation. I'm still voting for Deval Patrick, but if the Dems had come up with a more lackluster candidate (oh, say... Tom Reilly), I'd be voting for Christy.

Kerry Healey just.... oh. She just makes me *scream*. She's such a nobody, and so obviously being manhandled by the national GOP. Even though she's relatively moderate on my pet social issues (reproductive rights, stem-cell research, gay issues), I cannot imagine voting for her.

She was someone that could be attached to the Romney administration easily, and not make waves when he made his presidential bid in '08.
